An Intimate Autumn Wedding in Nanoose Bay

Laurie and Stan married at the beach in front of their Nanoose Bay home among an intimate gathering of family. On October 19th, their Autumn wedding was blessed by a break in the rainy weather. During their ceremony and afterwords for family portraits, the sun shone through the clouds creating an incredibly dynamic and beautiful sky. They married at Blueback Drive Community Park, one of Nanoose Bay’s many beach parks, which is literally the view from their kitchen window! With their dream home on one side and an incredible blue ocean on the other, Laurie and Stan became married their way!

Their Wedding Story

Laurie and Stan wanted to get married in a more casual and intimate fashion. This was both of their second marriage, and didn’t want a large expensive celebration. They live in paradise in Nanoose Bay, and have a gorgeous beach to explore practically at the bottom of their driveway! Blueback Drive Community Park is a public park in Nanoose available for intimate wedding ceremonies. They invited their kids and grandkids to witness their marriage celebration, and dogs were welcome too! Laurie walked down the road from her house as Stan waited by the ocean among his family for her. As she walked down, Laurie wore the most incredible smile! She couldn’t help but hug her family as she walked to meet her man.

After their short ceremony, they signed their papers and toasted with champagne as the sun became more brilliant. October 19th on Vancouver Island is very likely to be rainy! And for their ceremony, it stopped raining and gave us the most amazing light! So lucky! We took a few family photos and I spent some time with each couple too. Laurie’s son set the dinner table inside and did a beautiful job decorating with roses and twinkle lighting. There was an open, help-yourself bar, and they had the meal catered in their kitchen. The kids played card tricks, a fire was lit, and the conversations and wine were flowing. I was only with them for 1-1/2 hours and we captured all of this! Congratulations you two!

“What a fantastic photographer! Deanna was a joy to work with, so professional and fun and easygoing all at the same time. We had a very small wedding in a park, and she captured the mood , our families, and our happiness so beautifully. I would not hesitate one second to engage this talented woman again! Thank you so much Deanna.” ~Laurie and Stan
