Kat & Matt’s Nanaimo Wedding at Pipers Lagoon Park

Kat and Matt held their wedding ceremony at Pipers Lagoon Park, a popular beach destination in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. This 8 hectare park has a grassy field, sandy and rocky beaches, a couple of breathtaking cliffs overlooking the ocean, and a Garry Oak forest. They set up the ceremony on the grassy field for eighty guests. With the ocean breeze in their hair, they married among family and friends who traveled from throughout BC to be here with them. After formal portraits taken at Pipers Lagoon Park, we headed to the nearby Cavallotti Lodge for their reception.

Their Love Story

Kat and Matt are both employed in fields where they help people; Kat works with special needs clients, and Matt is a hospital nurse. When I first met Kat, she took my hand in both of hers and offered me some of her bubble tea. When you meet you these two, you know they are complete partners in life and love. After a few short years of being together in upper BC, they decided to move to Vancouver Island and start a fresh life with their cats to live near the ocean. It was suiting for them to become married at Pipers Lagoon Park beside the ocean, as well as take their engagement photos at Jack Point Park in Nanaimo, another amazing beach park. Interior British Columbia has immense forests and many trees whose leaves turn during the Autumn season. Both Matt and Kat are reminded of home when they see Fall colors. They decided to become married in late September for an Autumn wedding in Nanaimo.
