I actually have three jobs at the moments, and I am passionate about all of them! The first is pretty obvious; I am a wedding and relationship photographer. My other part-time work is as a photography tour guide with Pacific Rainforest Adventure Tours in Parksville. I take people to beautiful Oceanside parks and help them to use the manual settings on their cameras and talk about the region. I love it! My full time work, however, is as Deli manager at Qualicum Beach’s Naked Naturals. This is an organic health food store serving the local community vitamins and supplements, grocery, dairy, produce, and on my end delicious and healthy home-cooked style lunch and snacks… plus the BEST coffee in town! (As so many of our lovely customers like to say.) I honestly can say that I love my job. I love helping busy career people save time by providing them a decent meal, I love the atmosphere in the store as people run into each other and squeal, “Karen?! Oh my how have you been?!” My absolute favorite part about it however, is getting to know my regulars. I have met so many people over the past four years, and slowly over time we have gotten to know one another other. I enjoy hearing about everybody’s latest pursuits, and they love hearing about my hiking adventures. It’s a win-win and we laugh often over the counter.
These two are some of my regulars and I adore them. They are the sweetest couple and I have been wowed by their love for one another. Randy once told me something like this, (I wish I wrote the exact words down) “You know De, I love her. And I’m not sure how, but I love her more and more with every passing day.” Real life quote here! This was not a movie being mixed with my reality. They are total sweet hearts and say the kindest things behind each others backs. I seriously admire them, and I was honored to do a Christmas mini with them on Boxing Day a couple of years ago.
