The Engagement Session | Parksville & Vancouver Island Wedding Photographer

Why I think the engagement session is so important to have with your wedding photographer!

I have four wedding packages and three of them include a complimentary engagement session. I think this is such an essential opportunity to get to know one another and eliminate any kind of camera-shy, it helps you become familiar with the poses I will ask you to do when it comes to your formals on the wedding day, the images can be used for a guestbook at your wedding, save-the-dates, or even invitations, and it’s a cute way to tell another part of your story. For example, I photographed Erin and Jake in the Nanaimo River in their hip-waiters fishing- a reenactment of the activity and location during the actual proposal!

Another couple of mine, Taleah and Sean, both quoted they could spend the rest of their lives going to school at UVIC, they love it so much. I suggested we take their engagement photos at the UVIC campus library and gardens, and they LOVED the idea! The photos turned out so freaking cute.

Tim proposed to Stephanie while walking along the beach at Rathtrevor Beach Park in Parksville. We chose to have their engagement session here too.

So many people say they are awkward and shy in front of the camera. It can be true. But it’s up to the professionalism of your photographer to make you feel absolutely comfortable and at ease in front of their camera. I think it’s important to have this engagement session so that I can convince you you’ll have fun, I will convince you that you ARE photogenic, it’s not really awkward at all, and you’ll walk away thankful for having some pictures taken of you are your sweetie in a less formal way. On wedding day, you will be dressed to the nines and may not want to get close and dirty with the settings. The engagement session can be more exploring and adventurous. We can get you knee deep in the ocean, sitting on mossy logs, jumping in mud puddles if that’s your thing! When it comes to the wedding day, neither of you will be nervous about being in front of my camera. You know how I am, you know how you are around me, and it will become something you actually look forward to.
