Jenny & Trevor’s Fabulous West Coast Wedding | A Weekend of Love by the Sea
Jenny and Trevor’s West Coast wedding was a stunning Tigh-Na-Mara hosted celebration. The adventurous duo call Alberta home, but Vancouver Island has always held a special place in their hearts, drawing them back for many vacations and explorations. When it came time to plan their wedding, they knew they wanted to say “I do” somewhere meaningful — and Tigh-Na-Mara was the perfect fit. Nestled within a lush Douglas fir, cedar, and arbutus forest and just steps from the ocean, the venue offers everything Vancouver Island is known for: towering trees, sweeping ocean views, and distant mountain peaks.
Many Tigh-Na-Mara weddings are destination celebrations, and it’s easy to see why. The resort is perfectly set up for couples planning from afar, with everything conveniently located on site — guest accommodations, a spa, restaurant, ceremony and reception spaces, décor, and even a beautiful expansive beach. Located just minutes from downtown Parksville, guests can also easily pop into town if they wish. With an experienced, knowledgeable team and a curated list of trusted wedding vendors, planning a Tigh-Na-Mara West Coast wedding feels refreshingly simple. It’s no surprise so many couples choose to marry here!

A Celebration Made Personal (Paws Included)
One of the things I adore most about modern wedding celebrations is the thoughtful personalization couples weave into their day. Jenny and Trevor found the most heartfelt ways to include their four cats — Gato, Teppi, Mordy, and Bakers — throughout their wedding. I was instantly smitten during our very first conversation when we bonded over our shared love of cats (I have five myself and may or may not have a few wedding-day cat–inspired fantasies of my own!).
One of the flower girls walked down the aisle carrying a bouquet adorned with cartoon-style illustrations of each cat — a detail that was equal parts charming and meaningful. The same illustrations appeared on the bar menu, paired with playful signature drinks like Bakers Tummy Tickle and El Gato Rosado. To top it off, cat-themed coloring pages were set out at the kids’ table, which kept the kids busy during speeches.

A Reception To Remember
After making their grand entrance through a tunnel formed by their bridal party, Jenny and Trevor kicked off the reception with a fun photo dash. While the DJ played an energetic song and the emcee guided the couple, I followed Jenny and Trevor from table to table, capturing quick, silly photos along the way. These moments couldn’t be more different from the formal portraits taken earlier — the energy is spontaneous, playful, and completely unpredictable. Every table brings something new, making each photo totally unique and unplanned.
Guests found their tables using a Vancouver Island–animal–themed seating chart, where 3D-printed animals replaced traditional table numbers. Party on the Island DJ kept the dance floor packed all night with bubbles, balloons, and interactive entertainment, while an on-site photo booth proved to be a crowd favorite. A rented pinball machine added a nostalgic touch, keeping both kids and adults happily entertained.
After the delicious Tigh-Na-Mara catered dinner and speeches, the newlyweds set a playful, lighthearted tone for the rest of the evening with a beautifully choreographed first dance to Carly Rae Jepsen’s I Really Like You. It was a sight to behold!
