A Romantic Bilston Creek Farm Wedding Among Lavender Fields
Kirsten and Brayden’s Bilston Creek Farm wedding unfolded among the fragrant lavender fields on a hot July day on Vancouver Island. The couple exchanged vows inside the iconic timber-frame barn, surrounded by their closest family and friends. Bundles of freshly harvested lavender were strung along the barn walls, hanging to dry and filling the space with a calming scent and serene aesthetic.
Following the ceremony, guests spilled out into the orchard to enjoy cocktails and wood-fired pizza, soaking up the relaxed farm setting while spending time with the newlyweds. And these guests? Almost all of them had travelled from afar. Like, very far! Kirsten and Brayden, along with much of their family, currently call Australia home. Kirsten spent part of her childhood on Vancouver Island and always dreamed of sharing her love for the island with Brayden. As an adventurous, world-traveling couple, choosing a Bilston Creek Farm wedding felt like the perfect way to bring everyone together in a place close to her heart.

The Magic of Bilston Creek Farm Weddings
This was my first time photographing a Bilston Creek Farm wedding, and the setting truly made me feel like an artist stepping into a dream world. Everywhere I turned, there was beauty—rows of lavender, warm wood textures, and an idyllic orchard. The quaint, working lavender farm carries a timeless homesteading charm while still offering exceptional service and modern amenities, making Bilston Creek Farm an incredible wedding venue for couples who want the best of both worlds.
One of the standout features of a Bilston Creek Farm wedding is the flexibility the venue offers. On-site canvas tents provide rustic yet comfortable overnight accommodations for couples and guests who want to fully immerse themselves in the farm experience. The venue can be rented for the day or overnight, making it easy to tailor the celebration to your vision.
Both the ceremony and reception can take place on-site, with multiple options to choose from. Ceremonies may be held among the fragrant rows of lavender, in the apple orchard, or inside the timber-frame barn. Receptions can unfold in the orchard or in the barn, with access to the covered outdoor patio—perfect for mingling, dining, and dancing well into the evening. There is even a lower level hideout for the bridal party to get ready in beneath the barn.

The Duke Saloon After-Party
From frolicking through enchanting lavender fields to dancing the night away at Victoria’s country bar, the Duke Saloon, this wedding story took a bold turn in vibe. The Duke Saloon is adorned with bull skulls, a giant, cheeky cowboy poster, and a dark, moodier, club-style atmosphere. To say there was a contrast between the two venues is an understatement—and that dramatic shift made the celebration even more unforgettable. The band Kirsten and Brayden hired, The Pickups, truly got the floorboards rocking, turning the evening into an hours-long dance party. With a simple heart-shaped cake and a charcuterie board to fuel the fun, the celebration carried on late into the night in the most unforgettable way. Check out The Pickups here!

“Thank you for being such an incredible photographer! We can’t tell you how much we appreciated looking back on all the photos, especially the way you captured so many little special moments between not only Brayden and I but our family and friends as well. I honestly don’t know how you managed to capture so much! Thank you for your generosity with editing and sending us so many photos as well!!!
The photos you took of Brayden’s genuine laugh are so special to me and the photo of my nana laughing and dancing with my cousin is a photo that my family and I will look back on for a long time.” -Kirsten
