Parksville Cherry Blossoms at Rathtrevor Beach
Parksville cherry blossoms are BLOOMING! It’s that time of year again, when Spring is showing signs of sunshine and warmth. The indicator? Cherry blossoms! They are one of the first very evident blooms in the central and southern Vancouver Island communities. And we adore them! These cherry blossoms are a serene and peaceful sight that only happens for about 2-3 weeks out of the year. Each year is different. In 2023, the end of March was showing these blooms to be just beginning. This year in 2024, they were in full bloom in mid-March and will be fallen by the end of the month. Us photographers keep a close eye on this beautiful little grove of trees, and try our best to line up photoshoots within nature’s schedule. I am grateful to have shot three occasions here this year. An empowering just for fun shoot with the lovely Kierra, a sweet family of 6 including grandparents, and a wedding couple! Amazing!
This little grove of cherry blossoms has grown into the most beautiful tunnel-like forest, with green grass and a little path meandering throughout. Easily accessible, and usually always quiet, this place is incredibly peaceful. When Kierra and I shot here, the blossoms were strongly fragrant and were beginning to fall off the trees. The sight, smell, and quietude of the moment was truly sublime. Kierra at one point said, “I feel like I’m in a much older time era right now, a lady of the castle out for a stroll in the gardens.” Right?! This dress is a recent purchase to add to my Client Closet. Thanks to Wild and Cozy Closet out of Port Alberni, this dress suited the magical vibe we were after.
