Tigh-Na-Mara, a Popular Parksville Wedding Venue
Kimberley and Nick chose to celebrate their marriage at Tigh-Na-Mara Resort on Vancouver Island, a popular wedding venue in Parksville. The resort spans 22 acres, offering three kilometers of sandy beach, a variety of accommodations, and plenty of space for hosting a celebration. One of its highlights is the cliffside gazebo, providing a breathtaking setting for a wedding ceremony. With views of expansive tidal flats and snow-capped mountains in the distance, this location creates a truly magical moment for couples.
Tigh-Na-Mara can accommodate up to 200 guests and offers a seamless wedding planning experience. Couples can easily add services like tables, chairs, linens, meal and bar service, and dance floor rental to their wedding package. The venue’s layout makes logistics simple, with everything within walking distance, meaning no travel is required between the ceremony, reception, and other events.
The beach and forest surrounding the resort offer stunning locations for formal photos, eliminating the need for couples to travel off-site for their wedding pictures.
A Focus on Candid
Kimberley requested a focus on candid shots instead of staged photos, and I was excited to hear this. I assured her that candid photography is my favorite way to capture a wedding. I love observing and photographing people in their natural interactions, like being a fly on the wall! On a wedding day, it’s easy to capture these moments because emotions run high, and people often look their best when they’re surrounded by love and celebration.
While photographing the groomsmen getting ready, I caught a particularly funny candid moment. One of the groomsmen realized he had forgotten to pack his suit pants—left behind in Vancouver! Luckily, he had dark grey pants that blended well with the dark green attire. You could tell something was off, but only if you were really paying attention. ;)
At the reception, more candid moments unfolded naturally—emotional speeches, guests mingling, dancing, and the adorable moment of feeding cake to all the kids. I tend to edit these raw, emotional moments in black and white, as there’s something timeless and powerful about it.

The Vendors of the Day!
Kimberley and Nick enlisted several talented wedding vendors to make their day unforgettable. Vancouver Island Party Rentals provided the shabby-chic couches, elegant gold chairs, and stunning dinnerware decor, setting the perfect atmosphere. Party on the Island DJ kept everyone on the dance floor and added fun with a lively photobooth for guests to enjoy. Trina and Braeja from Shaping Memories Planning and Events served as the day-of coordinators, ensuring everything ran smoothly and was beautifully organized.
Kimberley’s mother, who once ran a floral business, showcased her talents once again by creating bodacious floral arrangements for the wedding. The arrangements were absolutely perfect for such a special occasion, adding a personal touch to the celebration.
