Silver Meadows Farm, Parksville | K&K’s Autumn Engagement & Family Photoshoot

A Spontaneous Engagement Photoshoot at Silver Meadows Farm

Earlier that morning, Kira and I were enjoying a beverage at Serious Coffee while chatting about her upcoming wedding plans. She and her fiancé, Kirk, will be tying the knot at Butchart Gardens in mid-March of 2025.

As part of my full-coverage wedding photography packages, I offer a complimentary engagement photoshoot, or the option to swap it for an additional hour of wedding day coverage. Since Kira and Kirk had recently welcomed a little one into their family, they decided to go with the engagement session. I was thrilled to combine this shoot into both family and engagement photos for them.

Kira shared that they wanted their photos to have a festive, autumn vibe. Since we were talking on October 15th, and the weather was wonderfully sunny, we decided to take advantage of the perfect day. Both of us happened to be free later, so after Kirk finished work, we spontaneously agreed to meet up for the shoot.

A few hours later, we found ourselves at Silver Meadows Farm in Errington, ready to capture this beautiful chapter of their lives. It was the perfect setting to create warm, memorable photos filled with fall magic.

Family Photos at Silver Meadows Farm

We kicked off the session with family photos at Silver Meadows Farm, a local gem in Errington. Known for its festive Halloween activities, including a charming pumpkin patch and a fun corn maze, the farm was the perfect backdrop for the autumn-inspired photos Kira and Kirk had envisioned. Everywhere you looked, pumpkins were lined up, adding to the seasonal charm.

Silver Meadows Farm also offers an idyllic setting for capturing golden hour moments. With vast green fields, a serene pond, and the iconic Mount Arrowsmith in the distance, it’s a stunning spot for photos. As the sun began to set, we were able to make the most of the beautiful light, creating some truly magical shots. The combination of fall colors and natural beauty made for an unforgettable experience.

A Magical Finale at Top Bridge Regional Park

To wrap up the photoshoot, we headed to a second location—Top Bridge Regional Park, just a short drive away. The Englishman River runs through the park, offering another stunning backdrop for the shoot. The colorful Maple trees were still holding onto their autumn leaves, continuing the seasonal vibe Kira had envisioned.

The light in the forest was nothing short of magical. As the sun had set behind the mountain, we were left with soft, diffused light that added a dreamy quality to the photos. By this time, their little one had fallen asleep, giving us the perfect opportunity to focus on capturing Kira and Kirk together.

Instead of traditional poses, their session had a playful energy that felt so natural and true to who they are as a couple. Their connection was effortless and fun, making it easy to capture authentic, joyful moments.

At the very end, Kira had a fun request: she wanted them to dip their feet in the river for one last shot. It took just a little gentle convincing, but it was definitely worth it. The final photo turned out to be the perfect, whimsical ending to a beautiful day of photos!
