Marissa and Kevin. Married on the Friday in her parents backyard, up the mountain on Monday for a post-wedding mountain photoshoot in their wedding attire! When booking me for their wedding many months prior, Marissa had this vision. My full-coverage wedding packages include a complimentary engagement photoshoot, and Marissa asked if they could instead do a post-wedding mountain photoshoot. Specifically, a shoot up Wesley Ridge at golden hour. I was a HECK YES, immediately and without concern. I’ve been to this particular spot dozens of times, and it is truly near and dear to my heart. Actually, it’s been a photography business goal of mine to photograph a wedding couple in this very spot for years. How amazing this goal was accomplished, without my even suggesting it to them.
The days surrounding this particular Monday in late June were shrouded in cloud with sprinkles of rain. We were determined to shoot at this date no matter what. They wanted to do this shortly after their wedding to keep it all in one emotional magical experience. Also, they were headed on their honeymoon road trip the very next day. So, we were hiking that mountain regardless! The weather, it turned out, was absolutely perfect for us. A photographers freaking dream! We hit the timing perfectly, with the sun setting over the ridge at the end. Oh, and I haven’t even mentioned yet that they brought their three month old BABY up there! A 60+ minute hike with some decent elevation gain over a short period, this was still an easy feat for this active couple. Hiking and backpacking in the mountains is second-nature to them, and Kevin is no stranger to hauling heavy gear around. So, carrying a baby, wedding gear, blankets, dinner and water was no problem. I also must admit that I loved when the little bugs flying around their heads were backlit and illuminated in the sun…. Backcountry bugs are a common sight for these two ;)
Congratulations to M & K, and thank you so much for helping me accomplish this goal. ♥
