Moody West Coast Weather and Cozy Cabin Bubbles
These two were planning a visit to the Island in late November, hoping for stormy weather. They set out to enjoy a relaxing, cozy stay in their Tigh Na Mara ocean view room before their baby arrives, making them three. She planned a spa day, a makeup styling, and a photoshoot with me to document their growing family. These two usually go camping when visiting the Island, so this trip was quite different. They wanted slow, calm, peaceful, quiet- and stormy! Well, stormy they did receive! The weather was SO rainy! Like, I thought we’d only be outside for about 15 minutes sort of soak, that would flatten their hair immediately. And, I had miscalculated the end of daylight due to the recent daylight savings time. Luckily, this would all work in our favor!
We started shooting at 4:00pm, with the sun setting at 4:30pm. I would normally be shooting at 2:30pm for enough daylight! And, the last time I checked it was pouring freaking rain! But, with very little daylight left, the rain, in classic Vancouver Island style, completely stopped for our shoot. The very low, moody light was actually really beautiful to work with, and completely worked with Aleah’s requests for, “Natural, Moody, Artsy, Candid” vibes. A touch grainy to brighten things up added to the artsy feel, as well as some silhouette photos. Aleah, a big ocean lover, stepped barefoot into the cold water with the moon revealing itself above her, was a truly epic moment. And at the end, she finished with a warm sudsy bubble bath at their Tigh Na Mara cabin for the sweetest photoshoot ending.
Congratulations, you two!
“These are amazing. You really captured our candid energy and the vibe we were going for. We love the island this time of year! The colors are great and the backdrops were perfect. Thank you for helping us save these moments for us to look back on for the rest of our lives.” -Aleah
