An Arbutus Ridge Golf Club Wedding
Megan and Tanner booked their venue, and myself, at least 2 years in advance. They chose Arbutus Ridge Golf Club as their wedding venue, held over the Canada Day long weekend. All of the advance planning was well worth it, as 79 family and friends committed June 29th to celebrate the happy couple. Throughout the day, a light rain sprinkled and didn’t dampen the mood. They held their ceremony outdoors in the Japanese Garden, a sweet courtyard overlooking the ocean and rolling fields beyond. A hearty dinner, emotional speeches, and energetic dancing were just a few highlights from the day.
Megan and Tanner chose to have a private first look before the ceremony. In my location scouting, I asked them how they felt about the little bridge. Tanner admitted that they always kiss whenever they walk across a bridge, and that it would be perfect. After their first look, we took a few private photos before their bridal party joined in. The grassy hill full of wildflowers was a stunning backdrop in addition to the Japanese Garden landscaping. Each bridesmaid wore a satin dress of a different color, and all the girls played up their beautiful wildflower selves perfectly!
Photographing the bridal party and newlywed photos before the ceremony allowed Megan and Tanner to spend more time mingling with their guests during cocktail hour. A quick 30 minutes for family photos was all that was needed before everyone went indoors to grab a drink. The way their timeline was laid out allowed me a ton of time to document candid moments of guests interacting. And or course, allowed Megan and Tanner to spend quality time with each and every one of their guest list! This was a priority for these two, and they planned their timeline well.
A sweet surprise by groom Tanner was to have a neighbor bring their fur baby Marshall for a visit. Just after the ceremony finished, Marshall made his way down and greeted his newly married parents. We snapped a few quick photos before Marshall went back home. In my emails with Megan prior, she said she was grateful for the engagement photos because we included Marshall, and that he couldn’t be at the wedding. Thanks to Tanner and their neighbor, Marshall would be more than just a framed photo on their wedding day ;)
Congratulations, you two!
“My favorite part of the day was the first look on the bridge. When I look at the photos you took, I am transported back to that moment and those feelings of happiness seeing Tanner and his reaction to seeing me. The dancefloor was my 2nd favorite part. I love the candid photos of everyone busting a move and having a great time at our wedding.” -Megan
