Raia & Evan’s Tofino Elopement

A Truly Secret Tofino Elopement

Raia and Evan’s Tofino elopement was a true secret. Not even their parents knew about the occasion! They had been planning this for months, a simple and beautiful wedding to share with just the two of them and their rescue dog Beans. They booked a gorgeous room at Ucluelet’s Black Rock Resort, and married on a beach just a 7 minute walk from their stay. The entire day was very relaxed, playful, and full of dog walking and cuddling. Black Rock Resort has dog-friendly accommodation. I loved seeing them get ready with Beans!

Raia and Evan’s love story began with business. They each owned and operated a landscaping company, both of them specializing in something different than the other. Beginning as friends and colleagues, these two would ask advice and share their business experiences. Eventually, the friendship blossomed into a romantic partnership. They merged their lives, and combined their businesses into one! They rescued a street dog from Korea, and chose to spend a romantic weekend on the West Coast for their elopement. I was honored to capture this awesome part of their story!

Trash the Dress Photoshoot in Tofino

Raia and Evan chose to finish the wedding day with a trash the dress photoshoot. At Cox Bay Beach in Tofino, we met up again at sunset to have some fun with smoke bombs and the ocean. We split my wedding photography coverage into 2 hours + 1 hour at sunset, in order to capture the days events. I was so game for a trash the dress photoshoot! When I met back up with them, I asked them how their day had been. They were very relaxed and casual, and told me they had taken a nap and enjoyed a chill afternoon. DREAM COME TRUE!! Can you imagine taking a mid-day nap on your wedding day? Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant!

I had a purple smoke bomb which I was quite new at using. I learned quickly that if there is any wind at all, that smoke is very directional and kept low to the ground. So, I had them hop over it! Watching the sunset, the golden glow of the day embracing them, we took some stunning photographs. Nearing the end, they both sat in the water and let the frigid ocean lap against them. Evan became completely soaking wet by laying down like a merman at the finish.

Congratulations you two, wishing you a lifetime of connectivity, laughter, and beauty. ♥
