One Of The Wildest Tigh Na Mara Wedding Memories I’ve Ever Photographed!

Tania and Douglas will forever hold a special place in my heart. They’ve earned a legendary status in my Tigh Na Mara wedding memories for what they pulled off on their wedding day. At the end of the night, after their first dances with each other and with their parents, these two decided to take a swim in the ocean.

This took place after the sun had set long ago, with just a teeny tiny bit of natural light left for me to shoot. It was raining. It was dark. They took off their shoes and were extremely casual the entire time. I wasn’t sure what to expect- would they just walk knee-deep in the water for some photos? Or, what? I readied my camera and did my best to keep up with them as they ran into the water- and UNDER THE WATER, HEAD FIRST! In full wedding attire, these two were completely immersed in the ocean! Douglas playfully found some seaweed and placed it on his wife’s head. These two embraced the day in such a way I will never forget.

Tigh Na Mara Wedding Memories

Tania and Douglas’s Tigh Na Mara wedding memoires will surely be regarded as some of their fondest together. They chose Parksville as their destination, travelling from Alberta to celebrate their marriage with family and friends. This premier destination resort has it all- accommodation, beach access, forested cabins, reception space, spa, and delicious catering and restaurants. They chose Tigh Na Mara for its all encompassing wedding planning experience, and the beauty that is literally everywhere.

Tania and Douglas got ready separately with their bridal party, which is where my documenting began. Each of them were having a blast with their friends, Googling how to fold pocket squares and enjoying the beach views from their balcony. Next, the couple met up for a private first look on the beach and exchanged their wedding vows. This was one of their highlights of the day, a tie between swimming in the ocean and this emotional moment. After the vows were read, we took playful wedding photos at the beach with their bridal party. The rain began just as we were finishing- how timely!

The Ceremony and Reception

The rain once again held off during the wedding ceremony, and for family formal photos as well. With their wedding ceremony taking place later in the afternoon, there much time before the grand entrance and reception would begin. However, these two were embracing all that life had to offer that day, and said yes to sneaking off to the forest for a few more golden hour photos before entering their reception. They would later tell me that these were among their favorite photos of the day.

Randy with Party on the Island DJ would act as both DJ and Emcee that night, and let me tell you, you are always in for a good time and more than a few laughs when he is emcee. Heartfelt speeches were spoken, a delicious buffet meal was devoured, and quality time was spent among family and friends throughout the reception. Oh, and you won’t be surprised that these two smashed cake in each others faces during their cake cutting. These two embodied playfulness at every opportunity! After the first dances, we headed to the ocean where Tania and Douglas truly blew my mind with their casual night swim, walking hand in hand into the salty dark waters.
