We Met on the Mountain & Made Magic on the Mountain
This view. Oh!!!! I regularly hike up the local Wesley Ridge mountain near Cameron Lake for the amazing view and incredible health benefits of a steep hike. I joke that this mountain is the place to look if I ever go missing. In fact, I did come home really late from a date once and my folks were concerned since I wasn’t answering my phone, so they drove out to the trail head to check for my truck! Oh parents ♥ I’ve made quite a few friends from hiking Wesley Ridge, and Josh and Ezrah are two of those friends. Ezrah and her friend, Rhys, were sitting at the viewpoint bench already when I came upon them and said my usual friendly hello. Ezrah’s warm hello back was so familiar and loving, I had to do a double take to see if I already knew her. I felt invited to talk with them some more, so I walked over.
Conversation was easy with Ezrah and Rhys, and I felt like we connected. So, at the trail head where the vehicles were parked, I took a good guess that the RAV4 was theirs and stuck my business card in the door to see if they wanted to connect again. They both reached out and we quickly made plans to hike the mountain again, soon. On that next hike, I learned that Rhys is a drone videographer and Ezrah was madly in love with her partner Josh. I wondered if they would all be up for a collaboration on Wesley Ridge at sunset; while photographing Ezrah and Josh, Rhys could video me in action. It was a win for all of us- I wanted to showcase this stunning location to adventurous couples and to use in my portfolio, Josh and Ezrah would have super cute couples photos, and Rhys would get some drone portfolio work plus a few photos of him too. They were in!
Getting Here
Getting to this particular location requires driving up a steep dirt road (most average cars can do this), and then a 30 minute hike up the mountain and through the woods. At this rocky bluff overlooking Cameron Lake and the distant Mount Cokely and Mount Arrowsmith, this mountaintop location is stunning at sunset during the longer daylight months. From April to September, this mountain bluff view is easily achieved. Cameron Lake is set between Parksville and Port Alberni, however, the road access allowing us to partially drive up the mountain is through the community of Little Qualicum River Village in Qualicum Beach.
If this adventurous, private, freaking SPECTACULAR view looks like something you’re up for, let’s connect and make some magic up the mountain. ♥
